Gave my brother 2 tyres I had at home for his car. Theres some wear/damage around the edge of the tyre at the corner so to speak where the arch was catching the tyre. Loads of thread left on the tyre. Would they pass NCT?

I have found that it depends on the tester.

depentds on tester really.

If cuts r not to deep, it should pass, but if He gets real pri..k for nct, he might fail them.

Chance it anyways, tyres r only 'visual' retest.

they failed me before on damage to the sidewall of the tyre , id say it would be hit or miss whether it'd pass or not depending on how worn it is. ^^ x2 only a visual if it does only fail on that

Sounds badly damaged enough by the description. Testers discretion if he can see cord or feels like it could blow out he will fail it, but as said only a visual so nothing to panic over.

if wear runs under the 1.6mm on the edge and into 25% of the tyre its a fail.
