did the tax office tell you that it cant be taxed till you get nct? Is the car declared of the road?
I personally was never turned away when taxing a car for no nct and I've done it quite a few times

So what your saying is you can legally drive your car to the NCT centre with out tax as long as you've the confirmation text message from the NCT centre. Does this work also if the car has no insurance on said car.

Not what he's saying lad. He says that his car is declared off the road but he is allowed to take it to nct centre. Plus you car drive it too a garage that is going to repair the car for the nct retest. If you read up about declaring a car off the road all the above is discussed in the article. Doesnt cover you from driving without Insurance

Had a feelin insurance would come up eventually when i seen the thread earlier so said nothing yet lol
Alot of insurance companies wont insure you without a valid nct and you can't tax a car without entering a valid insurance policy number... am i right??.... personally i wouldn't drive it without insurance which is totaly different to no tax or nct, you won't get away with it if stopped so either insure it under the condition of submitting a valid nct within an agreed time frame or get it trailered imo
You can enter another insurance policy number to tax the car so that wouldn't be an issue but if you are stopped in a car thats declared off the road you might have a job to explain that you were going to without receipts or that if they wanted to be a prick....

Yeah when the name on the book is changed it gets rid of the back tax, but I think he's saying that he can't tax it because he has no insurance and he has no insurance because he has no nct as they won't insure the car without nct so that's why he can't tax it, it all sounds a bit long winded and confusing but hopefully this clears it up a bit

you can insure your car with no nct as long as you have booked it in for the test,
and as said you can tax your car without nct!
