Got done in my test this year for rear disk brake conversion. They want engineers report for any modifications. Although one my callipers was slightly sticking it would have failed even if they were perfect.

You'd best off asking do you need one before testing cause they might not cop some things. Engineering report down here 150 euro :O

But skip to part 62 on this and there is your answers
http://www.ncts.ie/pdf/NCT%20Manual%20July%202014.pdf

And reading that they will have to rip my front end apart to find any modification which they are not allowed to do

some notice to car owners that this was being enforced would have been handy, then again, retests garner income

I called into a local Toyota garage and they gave me a number for an automotive engineer. Buckley Deasy was the name of the company. He just came out took pictures and asked few questions on weather it was a straight bolt on or if there was cutting and welding. When I told him it was straight bolt on he was happy enough.
He just carried car for spin and stuck breaks from speed limit to stand still to test imbalance.
Didn't take 20 mins altogether and he seemed sound to be fair but when your getting that money for what he done no wonder he was in good form. It says any semi garage can sign them but I called to two in tralee and they both past it off to that company.

Unsure really the engineer told me any performance mods. Maybe it depends on the centre or something weather or not there enforcing it or not cause every time there something different.
I failed on imbalance in the back brakes then the second time they failed me cause their was no gaurd cover around back of disks which there was nothing said about the last 3 years !!

Absolute pricks. Money racket is all it is. Front mounts, dumpvalves and even coloured wheel nuts etc will prob fail now too.

"The vehicle’s owner (or the presenter on the owner’s behalf) shall confirm whether any repairs or modifications have been carried out to a vehicle since its last NCT which may adversely affect the roadworthiness of one or more of the items to be tested (see Note 1)."

Taken from the NCT manual. So if I pass one time, with everything declared, does that mean I will pass the second time if I don't add anymore mods?

How is this gonna work for jap cars in reality? Unless its a very noticable mod chances are the tester will just think its JDM spec, eg I have twin pots on my bzg levin, modified to fit and milled down discs. Highly doubt any testers are going to notice that modifction though.

Massive headache for people and from what I can see was bought in without any notifaction to people.

Thats a joke the modified cars are probably safer the and looked after much better then other cars
Is upgrading brakes in a way safer as your stopping quicker ie less chance of a crash etc

People would want to calm down. It's only aftermarket seats and wheels failing.
If people weren't putting shit cheap parts into cars this wouldn't be an issue

exactly foggy. .. my car fails on the steering wheel (no airbag) and the bucket seat (doesn't recline or slide)

people seem to be panicking a bit to much about this..
