PostSubject: Class 7 WRC's not eligible for ITRC points in 2016..!!   Wed Jun 24, 2015 1:27 pm

Mixed emotions on this subject.. Good for upcoming crews, not so good the the crews that have already spend a fortune on newer WRC's cars...!!!!

R5 cars can score points
1.6 WRC cars cant be downgraded to R5, only to RRC spec which are also class 7

====================

Changes to Irish Tarmac Championship Points Structure for 2016

The Tarmac Rally Organisers Association (T.R.O.A.) wishes to announce changes to the points structure for the 2016 Clonakilty Blackpudding Irish Tarmac Rally Championship. These changes do not affect the various vehicle classes which will remain the same as set out in the 2015 Regulations.

The 2016 season will see competitors running in Classes 1 to 5 inclusive scoring points for the Overall Championship. Competitors running in Class 6 will be in a standalone class and therefore only eligible for class points. Competitors running in Class 7 will be able to score points for a new trophy, called the WRC Class 7 Trophy. The changes to the points structure are subject to MI approval.

There are no proposed changes to the Historic and Modified Championships.

David Gray,
Chairman T.R.O.A.

I personally think its a very bad move, just look at where the BRC is now after they made similar changes.

But from a different perspective, it will potentially bring a wider variety of cars to these shores

"Good for upcoming crews which cant afford WRC cars and want to come up in the sport and maybe do the ERC"

That annoys the fuck out of me...!!! If they cant afford WRC cars then theres no hope for them joining the ERC... Alot of top drivers will be very annoyed with this "oh but they can still rally but not for points or the ITRC".... Complete wank.....!!!!!

I read somewhere that the R5 cars are almost as expensive as the WRC cars anyway

I can't see them approving it, they only need to look at the BRC for a reason as to why they shouldn't
